The always-loquacious vice president had a colorful message for the Afghans regarding the timeline for transferring security by 2014, a plan that will be outlined here at the NATO summit in Lisbon.

“Daddy is going to start to take the training wheels off in October -- I mean in next July, so you'd better practice riding,” he said.

Ahmed Ghailani acquitted on 284 counts of terrorism and convicted of one count of conspiring to destroy or damaging federal buildings, but not the counts of murder and terrorism in the bombing of two U.S. embassies in Africa.
On the eve of his trial last month, the judge barred the government from calling a key witness because the witness had been identified while Ghailani was being held at a secret CIA camp where harsh interrogation techniques were used.
Is it any wonder that bin Laden called the U.S. a "weak horse?"
